GnomesGnomes are small, skinny individuals. Only the tallest of gnomes ever reach 46 the majority stand around the 4ft range. With small arms and legs they are rarely overweight. A trait common to all gnomes are their large noses and small dexterous hands. Most gnomes have lighter colored hair, with only a very small portion having darker brown or black hair. A gnomes senses are equal or better to those of elves. The diet of a young gnome is made up mostly of vegetables with meat as a side item. Gnome mothers heavily spice the food they prepare to add to the enjoyment of the meal. Gnomes once they reach the age of decision are allowed to pick from all the Guild available in the city. Once they make their choice they receive their third name. Melick Hangleledge will choose a Guild, and then be issued his Guild ID number. He will then be known as Melick Hangleledge StoneMiner 221. The Guild number is a secret number only used when around other members of the Guild. Every discovery or invention will be recorded by that number. Very seldom is a gnome able to change Guilds, and even when it is permitted only a small shift of study is allowed. From StoneMiner to IronMiner. Gnome society is centered around a college or library. The town council, or High Investigator Panel, is the final word on all decisions in the community. Each library or college holds all the inventions and discoveries made by that city, as such it is a matter of pride as to which town has the largest and most extensive library. The Gnome Bureau of Inventions is in charge of cataloging and submitting for patent all inventions made by any of gnome kind. Inventions created by other races are given credit to the first gnome to copy and improve on the design. Gnomes tend to worship a large group of gods. Some of the most common are Ephertain, Mayafist, Damosus and Mother Faum. Gnome clerics seek to discover how the universe works. Gods are looked upon as guides to that end, rather then being of great power that are to be revered. Gnome Necromancers look less upon the raising of the dead, rather they tend to devote their time to discovering what makes a body move and live. |
