HumanHumans come in all shapes and sizes. They normally range between 4' and 7'. The red hair discussed in the In-depth section is somewhat true, sometimes families with aspirations to higher station have been known to die their hair red show their status. While it is true that the farther north one goes the more likely you are to find fairer complexion skinned people, there is still some mixing of the race as a whole. More so in the South, where just about anyone of any color has at least been seen. The average life span for humans is about 60 summers. Human families are centered around the basic family unit. Most lower class citizens do not have a surname since it is usually not important. More typical standards are city (or city section) names or professions being added as a last name. The typical human settlement is made of individual families, usually only the upper class have any true lineage. For example, Borin could be Borin of Gnarlwood (city name), Borin Tinsmith, or Borin of Lower Goldhill (section of a city). For the upper class there is almost always family names added. These usually have somewhat long lineage and most have heraldry symbols. Humans have somewhat advanced societies towards the center lands. They are also somewhat numerous within the Twin Vales region. Humans are seen by some of the elder, longer lived races, as impetuous and somewhat impulsive. Humans tend to seem almost bee like in their assault of their own lives and efforts. This stems from the fact that they are one of the shortest lived races. Because of this, some portions of other races see them as too driven and tend not to make any long standing trade agreements with them since many fear humans taking over with their bee like zeal. The humans of the north are mostly unconnected tribes, although they do meet occasionally and work together. While humans have mixed diets, many lower class citizens are limited in land or resources, hence they eat much more grains and vegetables than meat. Upper class citizens can mix their diets because they possess more wealth and land. In fact, it is often seen as a sign of respect in many areas to serve exotic or rare foods, or to use much spice in any dish. Humans are very dedicated to their gods. It is not uncommon to find humans openly displaying spiritual symbols or professing to being a taken member of a certain faith. While Humans, as a race, are quite diverse in the gods that they worship, on average, humans tend to stick with one faith throughout their lives. They occasionally give offerings to other gods, but on the whole, they are personally monotheistic. They tend not to switch which god they worship very often, and many times discount some of the gods simply because there is a perception that this or that god is the one true god. Human technology is more diversified in the South, simply because the threat to one's life is not as great as it is in the North. Through trade and such, human technology remains equal to other races but really nothing more. Because of the fear of the power of humans, some technology is kept from them by the other civilized races. Traveler Lore | Resident Lore | Forbidden Lore| Game Stats | Back to Races |
