World of Ki'larn
Kairn Gloch

Mighty Far-Seeing K’Marden, Stout and True Fildred, and Deep-Delving R’gfgar had been traveling for many days. The Three were travelling about the world as men might, seeing how their followers lived. Their powerful legs had led them to the banks of the Thavin River. Here they rested near the cool waters of the river. The gods were amazed at the beauty and serenity of the vale, and they all sang praises to Father J’ogk, Maker of All Things.
The sun, fair Mai-atew, was setting off to the west; it was just crowning Heaven’s Chalice, kissing the peaks with its life-giving warmth. The Three sat down, had their evening-feast and offered the bones and fatty parts as sacrifice to Mother Faum for providing the feast they were about to consume.
“Here,” proclaimed the Bright-Eyed K’Marden, “Is where a god could make a home.”
His companions, the brothers Two, agreed. After evening-feast K’Marden declared that he wished to rest, and lay down and slept. The brothers stayed a while longer, content to enjoy the pristine beauty and serenity of the area. Then Bristle-Bearded R’gfgar spoke in hushed tones, so as not to disturb their friend.
“Brother, this land is rich in ore and minerals, it would make a fine place for a king to call home.”
    “Aye,” agreed the Hammer-Bearer Fildred.
The two brothers sat a while and pondered. They thought about their followers, the young race called Dwarves. They knew that their creations were a stubborn lot, not having much ambition to travel and expand and seed the world with their beauty. Dwarves were a race of craftsmen and artisans, like their patrons the Two. They thought and talked long into the night. Morning came and the Two had reached a decision, and when Far-See-er K’Marden awoke they asked for his help.
The Three traveled to the east and using K’Marden’s mighty maul, Durtyme-murgen, they dug a deep channel, this channel was so wide that it took the likes of men week to cross by boat. The Three took the earth, the flesh of Mother Faum, and moved it, reshaped it into the mountains where the Dwarvish kings have lived ever since. The formed the mountain range that would be know as the Spine of the World, from which the most lustrous gems, gold and ores poured forth for many, many years. When the sun, Bright Mai-atew again dipped in the sky towards her evening home in the West, his last rays shot out across the heavens alighting on the side of the last mountain in the chain, Mt. Gloch.
The last rays shone down, and formed a door in the stone, through which the gods entered and journeyed down into the bowels of the earth and brought forth rich veins of gold, platinum and mitherel. Yes, Mt. Gloch had the richest, most prosperous mines ever seen by any creature.
As the Three rested again outside, they sat staring at their handy work, and smiling. K’Marden spoke: “My friends this will be a rich and prosperous land for your children. I foresee great things here. One day, know this, that great fortresses will dot the mountainsides and your children and their progeny will create the most beautiful treasures that mortals have ever seen. Know this also, I see the greatest and most splendid living here at Mount Gloch. The great Kairn and the lower city will be both greatly blessed, and terribly cursed. But as things come to pass, Kairn Gloch will triumph and be one of your greatest masterpieces.”
The gods sat, ate, and were happy. And so began the rich history of the R’fgnarian mountains and the Kairn-fortress kingdoms that lied therein, and so began Kairn Gloch, eons ago.
