World of Ki'larn
Creation
Gather Round, young ones, and hear a tale of
times when the earth was young and the gods still walked the earth.
Let me tell you a story of how the heavens and the earth were created
by a divine power called J'ogk, and how beings such as elves, and dwarves,
and humans came to be.
In the beginning, there was naught except J'ogk,
whose mind and intellect were boundless. J'ogk existed, and that
was all that was in the cosmos. There came a time when J'ogk grew
bored and wanted things to amuse himself with, so mighty J'ogk, creator
of all things, birthed the stars up in the heavens. These stars
were so numerous that no one today could ever know their whole number.
So now, for a while, J'ogk was pleased. His companions twinkled
and sparkled all the colors of the spectrum; their beauty was beyond comparison.
They inspired J'ogk greatly, and some say, even today, that these
goddesses speak to poets and madmen, caressing their dreams with the silver-tongue
words of the divine. But this pleased him only for a while.
How long, no being will ever know, because time
to an immortal is unknowable to the likes of men such as we, and J'ogk
was THE immortal, blessed above all others, creator of ALL. So after
a span of time, J'ogk sought further ways to amuse himself, so he created
the planets and the streaking stars in the heavens. Again, he was
pleased for a time. This amusement was hollow, however, because,
as J'ogk came to realize, he had made all of this, but he had no one to
marvel at it all with him, he had no one to share his great thoughts with.
So J'ogk imagined Mother Faum, someone to share his lonely eternity with,
an equal in power and stature, that could inspire the creator to further
greatness. So J'ogk created our Revered Mother Faum, whose body
we sprang from, and whose fruits we partake of each day. And again,
for a time, Mighty J'ogk was pleased.
But J'ogk's greatest creation, Life-Giver Faum,
was imperfect, and flawed. She had not the power to live on, and
this troubled J'ogk terribly. Finally the creator of all had found
happiness, he had an equal to share the beauty and splendor of the universe
with, and she was not able to live on. So here, here is where the
whole multiverse changed, yes my young friends, here was an event so important
that it forever altered the course of history.
J'ogk's love was so great for his soul mate,
Faum, that he made the ultimate sacrifice, he gave himself up for her.
J'ogk, the ever-expansive sky met one last time with Mother Faum, the
wide and fruitful earth, and J'ogk melded with her, infusing her with
his essence, his immortal soul entered the very soils of Faum's body in
the form of the falling rains and made her stronger. He gave her
the ultimate gift any one lover can give to their companion; he gave Faum
life. With this act of ultimate sacrifice, J'ogk ensured that his
love, and his creations would live on for all eternity. And so Great
and Powerful J'ogk was no more.
However ..
Ask any dweller of the forest, and they will tell you
that J'ogk is everywhere around them. The most ancient of all religions
honors the Holy Creator along side the fertile mother that gave birth
to us all. J'ogk's essence teems within each blade of grass, and
lies inside each vein of ore that waits beneath the earth. Through
Faum, we partake of J'ogk's, the universes, essence and soul.
